books a number of books have been published on lilies. Considering the popularity of these plants it is surprising how few are in print. There are some surprisingly awful general garden books on bulbs which include a bit on lilies, some of these appear to copy the mistakes of earlier books. Generally the authors who have actually have had hands on experience in growing lilies are in a totally different league. An excellent book for Species is “Lilies” Patrick Synge/Batsford. A thoroughly good read and appetite wetter is “The Gardeners Guide to Growing Lilies” Michael Jefferson-Brown & Harris Howland/David & Charles. A masterwork on bulbs is “Bulbs” John E. Bryan/Christopher Helm.

The library. a useful source of information if you don’t use it you may loose it.
